The Nile Ritz-Carlton

Hotel

Updated · Egypt Info editors

Few hotels are better placed for sightseeing in Cairo. The Nile Ritz-Carlton sits between the river and Tahrir Square, right next door to the Egyptian Museum, on the site of the famous Nile Hilton that opened here in 1959. After a complete rebuild it reopened under the Ritz-Carlton name and is now one of the city’s flagship luxury hotels.

The 329 rooms, including 49 suites, are decorated in a refined style with Egyptian motifs, and many have balconies facing the Nile or the museum. Club rooms add access to a lounge with all-day refreshments. The large pool, said to be the biggest in downtown Cairo, is surrounded by gardens and private cabanas, and there is a spa and a 24-hour gym.

Dining is a strong point, with options that include Italian, Levantine and international buffets, a lobby lounge famous for afternoon tea, a cocktail bar and a pool restaurant.

From the front door you can walk to the museum, Downtown’s Belle Epoque streets and the Qasr El Nil Bridge. Nile-facing rooms can hear some traffic and party-boat noise. It suits first-time visitors, culture lovers and business travellers who want a top-end hotel within walking distance of the centre.
