Marsa Alam International Airport
Airport
Marsa Alam International Airport is on the Red Sea coast about 60 km north of the town of Marsa Alam and only a few kilometres from the marina resort of Port Ghalib. It was Egypt’s first privately built airport and is run by the Kuwaiti M.A. Al-Kharafi Group. It serves the diving and beach resorts of the southern Red Sea.
Airlines and routes
Most flights come from Europe. Air Cairo flies from several German, Swiss and Austrian cities. easyJet, Edelweiss, Eurowings, Lufthansa, Neos, Smartwings, TUI, Wizz Air and Corendon (from November 2026) also serve the airport, many on a seasonal basis. EgyptAir links Marsa Alam with Cairo. Winter is the busiest season, and some routes run only between October and April.
Getting to town
There is no public transport from the airport. Most visitors are met by hotel or tour-operator transfers. Port Ghalib is a few minutes away; resorts further south along the coast, and Marsa Alam town itself, are roughly 45 minutes to over an hour by road. Taxis can be arranged at the airport, but agree the fare first.
Facilities
The terminal is modern and compact, with cafés, duty-free and currency exchange. Visas on arrival can be bought in the arrivals hall before passport control.
