PSA Men’s World Squash Championship 2026

This event has ended. Dates for the next edition will be added here once they are announced.

Egypt is the superpower of world squash, and in May 2026 Giza hosted the PSA Men’s World Championship, the sport’s most prestigious title. The tournament ran from 8 to 16 May and was won by Egypt’s Mostafa Asal in front of a home crowd. Major squash events in Egypt often place an all-glass court with the Great Pyramids as a backdrop, one of the most photographed settings in world sport. For travellers, these tournaments are an easy and inexpensive way to see elite sport during a Cairo trip; tickets are usually sold locally and online through the organisers closer to the event. Check the PSA World Tour calendar for upcoming Egyptian stops, as the country hosts several top-level tournaments every season.

What to expect

The World Championship brings together the leading players on the PSA World Tour, with rounds building towards the final over more than a week. Earlier rounds are often played at club venues before the later stages move to a showcase court. Watching squash on a glass court is a close-up experience: seating is arranged in a tight grandstand around the court, so you can follow every shot. Egyptian fans are loud and passionate, and the noise rises whenever a home player is on court.

Getting there

Giza lies on the western side of Greater Cairo. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the easiest way to reach venues near the pyramids, and evening traffic can be heavy, so allow plenty of time.

Planning tips

• May is already hot in Cairo; evening sessions are the most comfortable.
• Bring a light layer, as evenings near the desert can be breezy.
• Combine a session with a visit to the pyramids or the Grand Egyptian Museum.
• Check the PSA World Tour website for each season’s Egyptian events.
