New Alamein summer concert season

Since 2023 the new Mediterranean city of New Alamein has become the summer entertainment capital of Egypt’s North Coast, hosting a season of big-name concerts, family shows and sports events branded in recent years as the Alamein Festival and Yalla Sahel. In 2026 the programme again centred on the open-air U Arena, with headline nights including a joint Elissa and Tamer Ashour concert on 21 August and Tamer Hosny on 29 August. The season typically runs from mid-July to the end of August, when Egyptian families and Gulf visitors flock to the coast. Tickets are sold online through Egyptian ticketing platforms and often sell out for top Arab stars. The dates given here are an estimate of the season; check each concert individually.

What to expect

The season usually mixes concerts by major Egyptian and Arab singers with comedy, theatre, family shows and sporting events. Concerts generally start late in the evening, once the heat has eased. Beyond the ticketed events, the city’s beaches, waterfront promenades and restaurants stay busy late into the night all summer.

Getting there

New Alamein is on the Mediterranean coast west of Alexandria. Most visitors drive from Cairo along the desert roads; the journey takes several hours, and longer on summer weekends. El Alamein International Airport has seasonal flights. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the easiest way to reach venues within the city.

Planning tips

• Summer days on the North Coast are hot and sunny; evenings by the sea are more comfortable.
• Book hotels or holiday rentals early, as the coast is very busy in July and August.
• Keep your ticket and identification on hand, as venues often check both.
• The Second World War cemeteries and the El Alamein War Museum are a short drive away.
