The CIB Egyptian Open is one of the showpiece events of the PSA World Tour, famous for its all-glass court set up directly in front of the Pyramids of Giza. The world’s best men and women compete, and Egyptian stars such as Mostafa Asal and Hania El Hammamy (the 2025 champions) usually dominate in front of enthusiastic home crowds. The 2026 edition was played in mid-October, with the quarter-finals on 13 October; the exact start and final dates here are estimated from match reports. Evening sessions are played under floodlights with the illuminated pyramids behind. Tickets are generally sold through the organisers’ channels close to the event, and early rounds are often held at a Cairo club before moving to the pyramids.

What to expect

Watching squash on a glass court is a close-up experience: seating is arranged in a tight grandstand around the court, so you can follow every shot. Egyptian fans are loud and passionate, and the noise rises whenever a home player is on court. Matches in the later rounds are played over the best of five games, and a close match can last well over an hour.

Getting there

The pyramids are on the western edge of Greater Cairo in Giza. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the easiest way to reach the venue, though evening traffic around Giza can be heavy, so allow plenty of time.
