Forever Is Now 6 – Art D’Egypte at the Pyramids

Forever Is Now, organised by Art D’Egypte under UNESCO and government patronage, places large-scale contemporary artworks by Egyptian and international artists on the desert plateau beside the Great Pyramids. The sixth edition is scheduled from 4 to 28 November 2026 and has been presented as a female-led show. You walk among sculptures and light installations with the pyramids behind them, and sunset is a particularly good time to go. In past editions, access to the exhibition was included in the regular Giza Pyramids site ticket, with separate passes for evening events; check the Art D’Egypte website for this year’s ticketing and opening times. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water, as the site involves walking on sand.

About the exhibition

Art D’Egypte was founded by Nadine Abdel Ghaffar to bring contemporary art into Egypt’s historic sites. Forever Is Now was first held in 2021, when it became the first international contemporary art exhibition staged at the Giza pyramids. Each edition invites artists to respond to the setting and to themes drawn from ancient Egypt.

What to expect

The artworks are spread across an open stretch of the plateau, so a visit is a walk through the desert from one installation to the next. Works include sculpture, light and sound pieces and site-specific installations, many of them designed to be seen against the pyramids. The exhibition draws art lovers and families as well as sightseers who come across it on their visit.

Getting there

The Giza plateau is best reached by taxi or ride-hailing app from central Cairo; the journey can take an hour in traffic. The Grand Egyptian Museum is close by, so the two can be combined in a long day.

Planning tips

• November days are usually sunny and mild, with cool evenings; bring a layer for sunset.
• Wear a hat and sunscreen, as there is little shade.
• Allow at least two hours to see the works without rushing.
