Antoniadis Garden lies in the south of Alexandria, near the Mahmoudiya Canal and the city zoo. The land has been a garden since Ptolemaic times, but its present form dates from the nineteenth century, when it belonged to the Greek merchant Sir John Antoniadis. His family later gave the villa and grounds to the city.

What to see

The garden was designed in a formal French style, with straight avenues, fountains and marble statues of figures from classical mythology. The Antoniadis Palace stands at its centre and has been restored for official and cultural events. Mature trees, some of them rare species brought from abroad, shade the lawns, and a small Roman-era tomb is preserved in the grounds.

What to do

  • Stroll the avenues and look for the classical statues.
  • Enjoy a quiet break from the busy city centre.
  • Combine the visit with the nearby Alexandria Zoo and Nouzha Garden.

Getting there and best time

The garden is about 20 minutes by taxi from Raml Station. Morning visits are calmest. Spring brings flowers and mild weather.

Entry fee: a small fee in Egyptian pounds; access to the palace may be limited to events (last checked October 2026).
