Banks in Egypt open Sunday to Thursday, usually from about 8:30 am to 2 or 3 pm, with shorter hours during Ramadan; they are closed on Friday and Saturday. Bank branches and exchange counters in the arrival halls of major airports, such as Cairo, Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, serve passengers around the arrival times of most flights.
ATMs are common in cities and resorts and accept international Visa and Mastercard cards; your own bank may charge a fee. Change money only at banks or licensed exchange offices, never with street dealers. Keep your exchange receipts, as you may need them to change Egyptian pounds back into foreign currency before you leave.
