The International Garden (also called the International Park) is a large public garden in Nasr City, eastern Cairo, at the far end of Abbas El Akkad Street. Its name comes from its theme: different countries are represented by their national flags and by sections planted with their characteristic flowers and trees, among them Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.
What to see
- National sections and flags of countries around the world, each with its own planting and design.
- Wide lawns, shaded paths and seating, popular with families for picnics, especially on Fridays and public holidays.
- Children’s play areas and space for walking or jogging away from the busy streets.
It is one of the largest green spaces in eastern Cairo and a useful stop if you are staying in Nasr City or Heliopolis, or have time to spare before a flight from Cairo International Airport, which is nearby. The Cairo Governorate lists the entrance fee as EGP 10.
How to get there
The garden is reached by taxi or ride-hailing app; ask for “El Hadiqa El Dawleya” at the end of Abbas El Akkad Street. Microbuses and public buses run along Abbas El Akkad Street. From the airport the drive is around 20 minutes, and from Downtown Cairo about 30–45 minutes depending on traffic.
