Luxor International Airport is about 6 km east of Luxor city, on the East Bank of the Nile. It is one of Egypt’s main gateways for culture holidays, serving the temples of Karnak and Luxor, the Valley of the Kings and the West Bank, and the many Nile cruises that start here. The terminal has 48 check-in desks and eight gates.

Airlines and routes

EgyptAir, Air Cairo and Nile Air fly to Cairo, and Air Cairo also links Luxor with Hurghada, Sharm El Sheikh and many European cities. In the winter season, direct and charter flights arrive from across Europe, including easyJet, TUI, Transavia, Edelweiss, Vueling, Aegean, Luxair and Sundair. Pegasus flies to Istanbul, and Jazeera Airways and Kuwait Airways connect Luxor with Kuwait. Many European routes run only from autumn to spring.

Getting to town

Taxis and hotel transfers take around 15–20 minutes to the East Bank hotels and Corniche. Agree the fare before you get in, or use your hotel or cruise transfer. To reach the West Bank you cross the Nile by the road bridge south of the city, or take the ferry from the Corniche.

Facilities

Facilities include cafés, restaurants, shops, a VIP lounge, ATMs and car hire. Card payment is widely accepted. Security screening happens at the terminal entrance as well as at the gate.
