Taba International Airport

Taba International Airport sits on the high plateau of north-east Sinai near Ras El Naqb, about 13 km from Taba and 30 km from the resort area of Taba Heights. It began life in 1972 as an Israeli air base, returned to Egypt after the 1979 peace treaty and took its current name in 2000. It has a single gate and handles mainly charter flights.

Airlines and routes

Traffic is light and seasonal. In recent years it has been served by winter charters from Central Europe, including Smartwings from Prague and other Czech, Polish and Slovak cities, LOT from Warsaw, and occasional EgyptAir flights from Cairo. In 2026, when Israeli airspace was closed, special flights linked Taba with Athens to give travellers to and from nearby Eilat an air connection. These services change from season to season, so check with your tour operator or airline before booking.

Getting to town

There is no public transport from the airport. Hotels and tour operators arrange coach or car transfers to Taba, Taba Heights and Nuweiba, and taxis can be booked in advance. The road drops steeply from the plateau to the Gulf of Aqaba coast.

Facilities

Facilities are basic: a small terminal with check-in, passport control and limited refreshments. Bring Egyptian pounds or a card for any purchases, and allow time for security checks on Sinai roads. If you plan to cross to Israel at the Taba land border, note that borders can close at short notice.
