MENA Tour golf Cairo swing (2026-27 season opener)

Egypt has been building a reputation as a golf destination, and the Egyptian Golf Federation plans to host some 20 international tournaments in 2026 under the Egypt Golf Series banner. The MENA Tour’s 2026-27 season opens with three professional tournaments at Madinaty Golf Club and New Giza Golf Club between 28 November and 10 December 2026. Spectator entry to these events is usually free or low-cost, and the green fairways sit against the desert on the edges of Cairo. Visiting golfers can also book rounds at both clubs on non-tournament days. Exact dates for each of the three events had not been published at the time of research, so check the MENA Tour or federation websites closer to the time.

Dates: announced by the organisers.

About the events

The MENA Tour is a professional golf tour for the Middle East and North Africa, giving young professionals from the region and beyond a path towards the bigger tours. Egypt’s mild winter climate makes it well suited to golf from autumn to spring.

What to expect

Tournaments are usually played over a few days of stroke play, with the leading players after the cut competing for the title. Spectators can walk the course and follow groups, a quiet and relaxed way to watch professional golf at close range.

Getting there

Madinaty is a large residential city on the eastern side of Cairo, beyond New Cairo, while New Giza lies on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road west of the city, not far from the pyramids. Both are best reached by taxi or ride-hailing app, and the journey between them can take well over an hour.

Planning tips

• Late November and early December days are usually sunny and mild, with cool evenings.
• Wear a hat and sunscreen, as shade is limited on desert courses.
• Follow golf etiquette: keep quiet while players take their shots and switch your phone to silent.
• Contact the clubs directly to book a round or ask about visitor access.
