Steigenberger Pyramids Cairo

Steigenberger Pyramids Cairo is a large resort-style hotel on the edge of the desert, about two kilometres from the Giza Pyramids and close to the Grand Egyptian Museum. Low-rise buildings are spread around gardens and a big central pool, and from upper floors and the terraces many guests get a clear view of the Pyramids, especially at sunset.

Rooms are comfortable and practical rather than lavish, with balconies or terraces in many categories. The hotel is popular with tour groups and families, and the pool, which is open all year, is a welcome place to cool off after a morning on the plateau.

There are several restaurants and bars covering international buffets, Egyptian dishes and a la carte options, plus a spa and gym. Breakfast is generally well reviewed.

The location is ideal for the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum and trips to Saqqara and Dahshur, but less convenient for downtown Cairo, which can take an hour or more by road. The highway outside cannot be crossed on foot, so taxis or the hotel shuttle are needed even for short distances. It suits value-minded travellers, groups and families who want a five-star base focused on the Giza side of the city.
