Semi-submarine trip (2 hours)

A semi-submarine has a viewing cabin below the waterline with large windows, so you can see the reef and its fish while staying dry. It is the easiest way to see the Red Sea's underwater life if you do not swim.

After hotel pickup you board at the marina and sit in the lower cabin as the boat moves slowly over the reef. There is also a snorkelling stop for anyone who wants to get in the water, with gear and life jackets provided.

The trip is short and calm, which makes it a good fit for young children and older travellers.

The semi-submarine is ideal for young children, older travellers, non-swimmers and anyone who would rather stay dry. It also suits people who have only a short time in Hurghada and want a quick look at the reef.

Good to know

Pickup is at about 08:00, and the trip lasts two hours, so you have the rest of the day free.

The best views come on calm, sunny days, when the water is clearest. When the sea is rough, visibility through the windows can drop, and the trip may be rescheduled.

The lower cabin is reached by steps and can feel a little enclosed. If you are uneasy in small spaces, you can come up on deck at any time.

The snorkelling stop is optional, and life jackets are provided. In winter the water is cooler, so many people simply stay on board and watch.

It is a good way to introduce children to the Red Sea before a longer boat trip later in the week.
