InterContinental Cairo Semiramis

Hotel

Updated · Egypt Info editors

The Semiramis name has been part of Cairo’s hotel scene since the early twentieth century, and today’s InterContinental tower stands on the same stretch of Corniche, between Garden City and Tahrir Square. Its biggest selling point is position: the Egyptian Museum is a short walk away and Downtown’s streets, cafes and the Qasr El Nil Bridge are right on the doorstep.

With more than 700 rooms over 28 floors, this is a large, busy hotel. Rooms facing the river have broad Nile views, while city-side rooms are better value. Some areas show their age, so it is worth asking for a recently updated room or a higher floor away from the noise of the party boats below.

Facilities are extensive. There are around nine places to eat and drink, from Middle Eastern and Italian to a lobby cafe and bars, plus a pool deck overlooking the Nile, a spa, a gym and a casino. The Cleopatra ballroom hosts many of the city’s large weddings and conferences.

The Semiramis suits travellers who want to walk to the main downtown sights, business visitors and groups, and those who prefer a well-known international brand at a mid-range price for a five-star Nile hotel.
