Turkish hammam and massage

A traditional hammam session at a spa centre in Hurghada, with transfers from your hotel.

It starts with a sauna and a steam bath, followed by a body scrub, a soap and foam wash and a full-body massage by a therapist. Towels are provided.

It is a good rest day after diving or a desert trip.

Who it suits

A good choice for a rest day, especially after diving, snorkelling or a desert trip. It also suits travellers who have never tried a hammam and want a straightforward first visit. If you would like more time and extra treatments such as a jacuzzi and a Cleopatra bath, look at the VIP version instead.

Good to know

Pickup is from your hotel between 10:00 and 16:00, and the visit takes about two to three hours including transfers.

The body scrub is quite vigorous; it removes dead skin and leaves your skin very smooth, but it is best not to have it on fresh sunburn. If you have a skin condition, are pregnant or have a health problem that heat could affect, mention it when booking.

Avoid a heavy meal just before you go, and drink water afterwards. Tell your therapist if you want lighter or firmer pressure during the massage.

Many people like to go straight back to the hotel for a quiet evening afterwards, so it is worth not planning much else for the rest of the day.
