Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh

The resort long known as the Hyatt Regency Sharm El Sheikh now operates as the Park Regency Sharm El Sheikh Resort, having left the Hyatt group. Booking sites still often list it under the old name. It sits in Gardens Bay, a few minutes north of Naama Bay, and is set into a cliffside landscape of terraced gardens, waterfalls and pools that cascade down towards the sea.

Rooms are spread across low buildings in the gardens, many with sea views and balconies. Some interiors are dated, but the grounds are beautifully kept and the resort has a peaceful, green atmosphere.

The house reef is one of the best you can reach from any hotel in Sharm. A jetty leads over the shallows to the drop-off, where snorkellers can see a rich coral wall and plenty of fish. The resort has four pools, a spa, a kids’ club and several restaurants covering buffets, Italian, Asian and seafood, usually booked half-board or all-inclusive. Wifi is weak in places and sunshades on the small beach can be in short supply.

Naama Bay is a short taxi ride away and the airport about ten minutes. It suits snorkellers, couples and families who prize reef access and a garden setting over modern interiors.
