Hula Hula Island snorkelling trip

Hula Hula is a sandy island with turquoise water, a short sail from Hurghada. The day is lighter on snorkelling than the Orange Bay trip and longer on beach time.

You are picked up from your hotel and taken to the marina. The boat stops at a coral reef, where a guide takes you snorkelling, and then sails on to the island for swimming and sunbathing. Lunch and soft drinks are included.

It suits families and anyone who wants an easy day by the water rather than a lot of time in it.

Hula Hula is a good pick for families with young children, older travellers and anyone who wants more time on the sand than in the water. It also works well as a first boat trip if you are not sure how much snorkelling you will enjoy.

• Swimwear and a towel
• Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses
• Water shoes or sandals for the beach

Good to know

Pickup is at about 08:00 and you are out for the whole day.

The sea is warmest from early summer to autumn. From around December to March the water is cooler, so many people swim for shorter periods and enjoy more time on the beach.

Shade can be limited on the island, so bring a hat and reapply sunscreen during the day, especially in summer.

Life jackets and snorkelling gear are provided, and a guide stays with the group at the reef, so children and non-swimmers can still look at the fish from the surface. Please do not touch or stand on the coral.

The ride can be bumpy when the wind is up, usually more so in the afternoon. If you are prone to seasickness, take something before you board.
