Super safari: quad, buggy, jeep and dinner show

This trip packs most of the desert activities into one outing. You ride a quad bike, then a buggy, then join a jeep safari through the desert and mountains behind Hurghada.

At a Bedouin-style camp there is tea and a short camel ride. As the evening comes there is dinner, followed by a show with traditional music and dance, before the drive back to your hotel.

Bring a scarf and goggles for the dust, and a warm layer in winter, when desert evenings get cold.

Who it suits

This is the trip for people who want to try everything the desert has to offer in one go. It suits active travellers, groups of friends and families with older children who are happy with a long day. If you only want a short ride, the half-day quad and camel trip is easier.

What to bring

Along with the scarf, goggles and warm layer mentioned above:

• Closed shoes and comfortable clothes that can get dusty

Good to know

Pickup is at about 08:00, and you are back at your hotel after the evening show, so it is a full day.

Driving a quad or buggy needs no experience, but you should be comfortable steering a vehicle over bumpy ground. The guide sets the pace and the group rides in a line. Riding a quad is tiring for the arms, so a reasonable level of fitness helps.

In summer the desert is very hot during the middle of the day, so drink plenty of water. In winter, days are pleasant but the evenings in the desert are cold.
