The Hilton Luxor is a contemporary resort on the East Bank of the Nile, about ten minutes north of Luxor town in the Karnak area. Its low buildings step down to the river through gardens, and the two infinity pools seem to merge with the Nile, with the West Bank hills and their tombs rising on the opposite shore.
Rooms are modern and calm, decorated in soft colours, and many have balconies facing the river. The spa is one of the best in Upper Egypt, with its own adults-only infinity pool, a thermal garden and a long list of treatments.
Dining includes a Mediterranean restaurant, an Asian restaurant and an all-day buffet, with bars by the pool and the river. Breakfast and the friendly staff are frequently praised in guest reviews.
Karnak Temple is a few minutes away by car, and the hotel can arrange boats across to the West Bank. The trade-off for the peace and space is that you need a taxi to reach Luxor Temple and the town centre. It suits couples and families who want a relaxing resort atmosphere with good facilities, and travellers who plan to rest by the pool between temple visits.
